An Clochán: Final Logo and Name

The idea for this design has developed from the start as a modern beehive hut design. After looking back through this blog I decided to call my design An Clochán, the Irish for Beehive Hut. The logo itself is a simplified cross-section view of the product that also double as a simple flame design to symbolize the heating element of the product.Capture

Final Design

After more consultation with lecturers it was decided to develop the product more to be a more permanent product without wood but a solid concrete chair instead. Below Are some screenshots from the Solidworks.

Further Development

After talking with lecturers and getting some criticisms and areas for improvement the concept is continuing to develop to facilitate more people. Below are some example of development to date.

A Very Similar Idea

I was surprised to find this design by San Francisco designers David Covell and Aaron Jones.  It employs the same basic idea of heating as my design. I think it is explained a lot better from the duo of designers than I ever could.

Cool New Concrete

This new development in concrete will probably be seen in the future a lot more. I will explore using it myself but can realistically see where I would use it without it being forced as of yet.

Aesthetic Development

Below are sketch of my aesthetic development to date.
