Brief Overview of Existing Products

September 28, 2012

The main problems with products already on the market are as follows:

  • Inefficient: Weither they use electricity or gas these product are very inefficient. Although the producers claim that they are very efficient machines they do not mention the area in which the are heating when they are as efficient as they claim. The average electrical heater cost 14c per hour to run, the average gas powered heater cost 25c per hour to run.
  • Reliability: In some cases (less than half), reliability is an issue for these products as they give out inconsistant heat. In most cases the machines are not adjustable the quick temperature changes.
  • Accuracy: If the temperature of the outdoors change the heating device cannot really tackle this problem as they are emmiting a constant temperature.
  • Safety: these products reach very high temperatures when trying to heat a large area. There is an issue with this as it is giving the heat source from one area which means that it has to be very hot to heat a large area. If you are too close or touch it you may be burnt.

This is only a brief overview of the product areas in this industry already. I will delve into this in more detail later and I will also look at altrnatie ways to combat the comfort in outdoor areas.
